From the Field - July 24
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Much has happened in the past few weeks. Even in the middle of rainy season—and the ongoing war—joy permeates our students and staff as they work hard to pursue a greater purpose together. Thank you for being a part of the journey!
Here’s how to you can pray for them:
Physician Associate Program
Year 1 students are learning critical thinking, critical reading, anatomy, basic math, English, computers, and medical terminology.
Year 2 students took exams for their cough and fever lectures. Now, they are studying chest pain and dyspnea.
Year 3 students are learning ECG, newborn care, pre-term baby care, and normal delivery, along with night classes to review a wide range of topics.
Year 4 students are learning newborn care, pre-term baby care, normal delivery, miscarriage, computers, and group discussions to learn from patient cases they encountered during their rounds.
Engineering Tech Program
E-Tech students spent the month of June learning at the Mae Sariang site. Now that the location is being used more and more to host volunteers, visitors, students, staff, and trainings, there was a need to improve accommodations. Thanks to a donor from Siloam Springs, AR, the students were able to construct a nice outdoor toilet facility for a practical training experience (Below).
In the last week of June, the students learned about motorcycle and truck repairs. They also learned supply logistics processes by helping to document and package supplies being shipped to RTC.
Frontline Mobile Clinic
(Below) On July 12, Dr. Augustine, Dr. Zue, Ray Kaw, and several PA staff arrived at a frontline location to help anyone in need of medical and surgical care. Please pray for safety, endurance, and wisdom as they serve.
Ray Kaw
RTC SITE DIRECTOR
Ray Kaw prays as the frontline team prepares to depart. As the RTC Site Director, our staff and students depend on his leadership. He is a deeply humble man always looking for ways to learn and serve. On top of his regular responsibilities, he is taking the 2-year postgraduate Surgical Training course alongside other PA graduates.
Please pray for him as he serves and leads the staff, students, and patients under his care.
Rain Tree Hospital Campus
In June, we had 322 OPD patients, 72 IPD patients, 18 surgical cases, 3 delivery cases, and 5 referral cases. Please pray for healing and hope for these patients.
We're excited to welcome Dr. Thiri to the Earth Mission family! She provides OBGYN services and teaches OBGYN classes to the PA students and staff. Please pray for her as she integrates into her new role.
Dr. Judson is a member of the TRAD Clinic team who evacuated to the RTC location in December. Wherever he goes, he is always investing in the people around him. He teaches a lunchtime language class to help students improve their Burmese speaking. On the weekends, he gathers children from nearby villages to teach basic English, Bible verses, and music. Please pray for him and those he ministers to.
The Engineering shop is now complete! Thank you for making this vital project possible through your prayers and financial support. This structure will increase efficiency in operations with tool storage, parts inventory, and space to repair vehicles and equipment.
The campus electrical supply has been challenging with heavy rains blocking sunlight for our solar power system. Praise Jesus for generators to rely on, and enough sunny days recently to top off our battery banks once again! Please pray for our engineering teams as they work through the extra challenges of rainy season on top of other projects and repairs.
The engineering team worked with the medical team to develop a communication system for making sure enough concentrators are available for scheduled surgeries. Concentrators have a high electrical demand, so preventing disruptions is critical.
